The National Farmers Day also known as Kisan Diwas is celebrated on 23rd December, every year on the birthday of the 5th Prime Minister of India Sri Chowdhary Charan Singh who’s also a farmers’ leader. As a part of this great occasion, a Kisan Expo will be organized from December 22nd to 23rd this year in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
Executive Knowledge Line is organizing Kisan Expo 2020 in connection with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav -an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture, and achievements.
Kisan Expo is an Exhibition on Agriculture, Dairy and Poultry Industry. Agriculture is the largest sector in India with 60% population of the nation still having it as the main source of income. In the last few years, It has been a focus sector for the government of India as well as other Indian states and Union Territories. It might seem odd that there are not many days dedicated to farming. However most of our major holidays and festivals can be tracked back to farming, such as the rebirth of spring and the harvest period in the fall which tells the significance of agriculture and farming. There is always a huge potential for setting up new technologies and procedures with the changing time in agricultural field. However the biggest challenge is the lack of exposure of the majority of Indian farmers to the developed technologies as well as most modern equipments.
Farmers have to be initiated to be made aware of various policies and practices described by professionals as well as Government. The concept of Kisan Expo
is being launched with this mission only to build a platform, where all the stakeholders related to the field can come and interact for the upliftment of Kerala’s agriculture.
Kisan Expo in Thiruvananthapuram is organized with the objective to create a single platform for the Kerala Agri Community. It is the only fair of its kind where Agri professionals, policymakers, like-minded individuals, government officials, and media come together to have constructive conversations with the ‘who’s who’ of the Kerala”s Agriculture Sector.
